Quick answers

The Short Version

We work on garage doors - springs, openers, tracks, panels, cables, rollers - on the houses that make up Destin. Most of the homes we get called to were built somewhere between 1973 and 2013, with a lot of that stock centered around 1979, and that spread matters: a torsion spring sized for an early-80s steel door isn't the same part you'll find on a 2008 insulated panel door, and the opener mounting brackets changed more than once in between.

Original 1960s hardware

Across the area's seven named neighborhoods, a good chunk of what's out there dates to the 1960s and 70s, which means original hardware that's thinner-gauge and harder to match than what's sold today. We don't pretend every door is the same job.

Repair versus replacement

A door that's 40 years old with a worn-out torsion spring is usually a repair. A door that's been patched three times already, with a track that's bent and an opener that's dying too, is usually cheaper to replace outright - we'll tell you which one you're looking at before we start charging for parts.

Work outside our scope

We don't do new home construction and we don't install gates or fencing. Garage doors and the openers that run them - that's the work. If you want to reach us, see below.

How to Reach Us

Call us at (850) 615-1243. We're located at 4608 Opa Locka Ln, Destin, FL 32541, and that's also where you can reach us if you need to stop by.

Describing symptoms by phone

If you're not sure whether what you're dealing with is worth a service call - a door that's gotten noisy, an opener that's started hesitating, a spring that looks like it's starting to separate - call and describe it. Some of that is a five-minute fix.

Full torsion system replacement

Some of it is a sign the whole torsion system needs to come off and get replaced, especially on original hardware from houses built back in the 60s and 70s. Either way, you'll know more after the call than you do now.

No overnight emergency dispatch

We don't run 24-hour emergency dispatch, and we're upfront about that - if your spring snaps at 2 a.m., the door isn't going anywhere until morning anyway, since a snapped torsion spring is not something to force open by hand.

Where We Work

Our base is in Destin, and most of our calls stay inside Destin proper, across its various neighborhoods - the mix of 1960s-70s original-stock homes and the newer builds that came in through the 2000s and 2010s. That range in construction years means we're carrying parts for two or three different eras of hardware on the truck at any given time, not just one standard kit.

We also take calls from the towns close by: Lake Lorraine and Valparaiso, both about 6 miles out, Shalimar at 7 miles, Miramar Beach and Ocean City at 8 miles, Mary Esther at 11 miles, and out toward Hurlburt Field at 15 miles. If you're in one of those and you're not sure we cover your street, just call and ask - it's faster than guessing from an address.

The area runs mild with the occasional freeze, which is gentler on garage door hardware than a lot of climates, but humidity and salt air near the coast still take a toll on springs and track hardware faster than you'd expect inland.

Questions

Common questions

Do you work on older garage doors, or only newer ones?

Both. A lot of our calls are on houses built in the 1960s and 70s with original hardware, and just as many are on doors from the 2000s and later. The parts and the failure points are different, so we size up the door's age before quoting anything.

How far from Destin do you go?

We stay mostly in Destin, and we also take calls from Lake Lorraine, Valparaiso, Shalimar, Miramar Beach, Ocean City, Mary Esther, and out toward Hurlburt Field. If you're near one of those and unsure, call and ask.

Do you offer emergency after-hours service?

No. We don't run 24-hour dispatch. If a spring breaks overnight, leave the door alone until you can get a call in - a broken torsion spring under tension isn't something to muscle open by hand.

Is it better to repair or replace an old door?

Depends on the door. If it's one issue - a spring, a cable, a roller - that's usually a repair. If the door's been patched more than once and the opener's also failing, replacement is often the cheaper path in the long run. We'll tell you which situation you're in before charging for parts.
